FAQs

Which material is the most durable?

1. Granite · 2. Quartzite · 3. Dolomite · 4. Marble · 5. Engineered Stone / Quartz / Porcelain.

Which material is more cost-effective?

Granite.

What is the hardness of each stone?

Granite is typically a 6-8 on the scale, marble is typically a 3-5 on the scale, engineered quartz is typically a 7 on the scale, and quartzite is typically an 8 on the scale.

Which material is less prone to staining?

Quartz and properly sealed natural stone (granite) countertops are highly stain resistant, but not stain proof. Regular maintenance and a modicum of common sense is required to help resist staining, but stains can and will occur if you are careless.

What is the difference between granite and quartz?

Granite is a purely natural stone that comes directly from stone quarries and is then cut into thin slabs, polished, and fabricated into countertops. Quartz countertops are engineered stone products that may contain a large percentage of natural quartz but may also include other minerals.

Where does granite come from?

Raw granite materials are mined from the earth in places called quarries. While Italy and Brazil have some of the most prolific quarries, there are sites all over the world.

What is quartz made of?

It is made from 95% crushed quartz natural stone and 5% polymer resin cement-based binders.
